Lights, Camera… AIFF Is Back! 🎬✨ Amman's Biggest Film Festival Returns This July

The 7th edition of the Amman International Film Festival – Awal Film (AIFF) is officially returning from July 26 to August 3, bringing nine days of cinema, storytelling, and some of the region’s biggest names in film.

This year’s theme, “Beyond the Frame,” invites audiences to look beyond what’s on screen and explore the stories, emotions, and perspectives that exist beyond every scene.

HRH Princess Rym Ali, President and Co-Founder of AIFF, says:

“Beyond the Frame is an invitation to look further: beyond the image, beyond the screen and into the human stories that connect us. It is a recognition that some of the most essential parts of a story can lie just outside the edges; that beyond the image, there exists a variety of points of view.”

She adds:

“In a rapidly changing world and while AI impacts artistic tools in an unprecedented way, cinema remains a profoundly human act. It continues to expand our understanding of one another and to open new perspectives.”

Highlighting the importance of looking beyond the image itself, Princess Rym Ali emphasizes that cinema continues to celebrate the human experiences and connections that shape every story. She also notes that, even as AI transforms creative industries, cinema remains a deeply human art form that helps us understand each other and discover new perspectives.

Festival Director and Co-Founder Nada Doumani states:

“As the Festival continues to grow, we will celebrate films that exceed the limits of the camera frame. More than ever, artists, intellectuals and cultural operators need to come together and remain attentive to stories that resist confinement and voices that continue to resonate long after the image fades.”

This year’s edition will celebrate films that move beyond traditional boundaries, while bringing together filmmakers, artists, and storytellers whose voices continue to leave a lasting impact.

Matching this year’s theme, the festival has also unveiled its new official artwork, created by Jordanian creative agency FromSoda, reflecting the idea of looking beyond the obvious and embracing new horizons.
