Palestinian Singer Elyanna Becomes First Arab to Perform on SNL with Coldplay

Preview lyanna performs onstage with Chris Martin of Coldplay during the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Festival

Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna made history as the first Arab artist to perform on Saturday Night Live, joining Coldplay on stage for a surprise debut. She performed their new song We Pray alongside Argentine singer Tini and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, commemorating the release of the band’s latest album, Moon Music.

This milestone performance adds to Elyanna’s growing global presence. She recently took the stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, where she performed the same track, and released an Arabic version of We Pray on September 20. Elyanna frequently dedicates the song to her homeland, Palestine, expressing messages of hope and pride.

Her SNL appearance builds anticipation for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour in Abu Dhabi, where she will be the opening act in January. Elyanna continues to break barriers, using her platform to represent Palestinian culture on the world stage.

Coldplay has shown consistent support for Palestine, previously featuring Elyanna at the Glastonbury festival, where they performed Arabesque, inspired by Chris Martin’s visit to the region. Elyanna’s trailblazing moment on SNL cements her status as a powerful voice for Arab and Palestinian representation in global music.
