Zain Jordan Joins Red Sea Cleanup, Extracting 280 KG of Waste

In a continued effort to support marine conservation, Zain Jordan recently took to Instagram to announce their participation in the Red Sea Deep Cleanup Campaign in Aqaba. This marks the company's fourth collaboration with ProjectSea and Abu Shakra to help protect Jordan's aquatic ecosystems.

The initiative, which involved teams of divers cleaning the waters of the Red Sea, has successfully removed a staggering 280 kg of waste from the marine environment. This is part of a larger mission to foster interest in preserving underwater life and marine habitats in the Gulf of Aqaba, one of Jordan’s prized natural resources.

ProjectSea, the organization behind the cleanup, is a Jordanian movement dedicated to reducing marine pollution, which saw a significant rise after the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, the movement has completed 29 cleanups, with 400 volunteers from 44 different nationalities joining the cause. With an age range of 10 to 65 years old, the volunteers have managed to extract over 152,846 pieces of waste, totaling about 9 tonnes.

Abu Shakra, a well-known retailer offering luxury products such as cosmetics and perfumes, is also a key supporter of the campaign, displaying how businesses across various industries are coming together for a shared environmental purpose.

Zain's involvement in the Red Sea Deep Cleanup Campaign highlights the growing commitment among companies and organizations in Jordan to protect the environment. Through initiatives like this, not only is marine life in Aqaba safeguarded, but awareness is also raised on the importance of maintaining clean oceans for future generations.
