Jordan is bracing for a sharp drop in temperatures on Wednesday as a cold wave intensifies, bringing freezing conditions across much of the Kingdom. The latest forecast warns of temperatures approaching zero degrees Celsius, particularly in northern and central regions and the mountain areas.

Weather Forecast (Next 48 Hours):

  • Monday & Tuesday: Cold weather across most regions, with warmer temperatures in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Cloud cover will increase, and winds will shift from southeast to northwest.
  • Wednesday: The low-pressure system will bring overcast skies and rain, starting in the north and spreading across the country. Thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds (up to 70 km/h) are expected, with flood risks in low-lying areas.
  • Thursday: The cold air mass deepens, with ongoing heavy rain, strong winds, and potential snow on high mountain peaks. Street and valley flooding is possible, and visibility will be reduced in mountainous areas.

Meteorologists are advising residents to prepare for frost in several areas and to stay warm, especially at night. Authorities have also issued the following warnings:

  • Reduced visibility due to fog and dust
  • Risk of flooding in valleys and low-lying areas
  • Strong winds and slippery roads in high-altitude regions

While the cold wave is expected to persist, a slight improvement in temperatures is anticipated by Thursday, offering some relief to those enduring the cold. Stay bundled up, stay safe, and take care during this chilly weather!
