The Jordanian government has announced that Monday, September 16, 2024, will be observed as a public holiday in honor of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (PBUH), known as Al-Mawlid Al-Nabawi.

According to the official statement, all ministries, government offices, public institutions, universities, municipalities, joint service councils, the Greater Amman Municipality, and state-owned companies will suspend activities for the day. The holiday aligns with the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal, 1446, on the Islamic calendar.

However, ministries and departments that provide essential services and require ongoing operations due to the nature of their work are exempt from the holiday directive and will continue to function as usual.

Mawlid Al-Nabawi is an annual festival commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), traditionally observed on the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar. The day holds significant importance in Islam.

Sources suggest private companies are also taking the day off tomorrow. Are you?
