📢 A New Dress Code in Schools

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education has introduced a new regulation requiring all male secondary school students—both Saudi and expat—to wear the traditional thobe as their official school uniform. Saudi students must also wear a ghutra or shemagh to complete the look.

But why the change?

This decision is part of Vision 2030, a national initiative led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to strengthen Saudi identity and cultural values. By implementing the thobe as the standard school uniform, the government aims to instill a sense of pride and tradition among the nation’s youth.

Who Does This Apply To?

✔️ Male students in all public and private secondary schools
✔️ Both Saudi nationals and expatriate students

📌 What to Expect

  • Schools will strictly enforce the dress code
  • Awareness campaigns will educate students and parents on its importance
  • Non-compliance may lead to disciplinary action

The new policy is more than just a dress code—it’s a statement about tradition, identity, and the future of Saudi youth. As students step into their classrooms wearing the thobe, they’re also stepping into a deeper connection with their heritage.

Whether this change sparks pride or debate, one thing is certain—the halls of Saudi schools will now reflect the nation’s cultural roots like never before!
