In a dazzling celebration of heritage and modern design, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has officially opened its doors near the iconic Giza Pyramids — and it did so in spectacular style.

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, Queen Rania, deputising for King Abdullah II, attended the grand opening alongside her daughter Princess Salma bint Abdullah II. Welcomed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and First Lady Entissar El-Sisi, the pair toured the breathtaking new complex — home to over 50,000 artefacts, including the entire Tutankhamun collection displayed together for the first time.

Among the museum’s showstoppers? An 83-ton statue of Ramesses II, a children’s museum, a 3D theatre, and world-class conservation labs — blending history, innovation, and architecture under one roof.

After more than two decades in the making, the project began back in 2002, wrapped up construction in 2023, and officially opened to the public on November 4, 2025.

Queen Rania’s presence highlighted Jordan’s commitment to cultural collaboration and heritage diplomacy — a moment connecting two nations united by history, art, and timeless beauty. Her look? A custom red Dolce & Gabbana gown that perfectly matched the grandeur of the night.

Because moments like this remind us — the past isn’t gone; it’s just waiting to be seen in a new light. ✨
