Jordan has officially announced the public holidays for Christmas and New Year 2025, marking one of the most festive weeks of the year. Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan issued a circular confirming that Thursday, December 25th will be an official holiday in celebration of Christmas, and Thursday, January 1st will be observed as the public holiday for New Year’s Day.
In addition, Friday, December 26th is designated as a special holiday for Christian citizens — though it naturally falls on the weekend for all residents.
With both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day landing on Thursdays, Jordanians are set to enjoy two long weekends in a row, giving everyone extra time to celebrate, rest, and make the most of the festive season.
All ministries, public institutions, banks, and schools will suspend operations on the official holidays, while private-sector schedules may vary depending on internal policies.
This year’s holiday timing creates a smooth and extended end-of-year flow. Amman is already gearing up for a vibrant festive atmosphere — from Christmas markets and outdoor concerts to themed dining nights, hotel packages, and New Year countdown events. Businesses across the capital are preparing for one of the busiest winter seasons, with more family activities, shopping events, and community celebrations expected across the Kingdom.
