Jordan Prepares to Celebrate National Flag Day

Preview 7

The Flag. The Feeling. The Day.

You’ve seen it flying from balconies, pinned to backpacks, printed on jerseys. But on April 16, it’s not just something we see—it’s something we feel.

Because Flag Day isn’t about fabric.
It’s about us.

🖤 Black – For the strength of the Abbasid legacy
🤍 White – For the vision of the Umayyads, vast and enduring
💚 Green – For the deep-rooted history of the Fatimids
❤️ Red – For the revolutionary spirit of the Hashemite dynasty

And in the center? A seven-pointed white star ⭐
A symbol of Arab unity, the seven verses of Surah Al-Fatiha that guide us, and a reflection of the seven hills of Amman—the city that inspired our name, and the heart that beats for all of Jordan.

Flag Day Festivities

This year, the Ministry of Local Administration is showing love:
✨ Flags on every official building
🎁 Free flags for the people
🌆 Landmarks glowing red, white, black & green
📣 Media campaigns across the country

The country gets a little brighter. Streets are lined with flags. Landmarks glow after dark. Even your local grocery might hand you a flag with your bread.

Schools sing. Kids wave their flags like it’s the World Cup.
There’s joy. There’s pride. And there’s this quiet, beautiful sense of belonging.

Flag Day is a reminder of everything we’ve built—and everything we’re still becoming.

So, wherever you are on April 16:
Raise it. Wear it. Share it.
