Jordan Announces Eid Al Adha Holiday from June 5 to June 10
Prime Minister Jafar Hassan issued an official circular declaring a public holiday in Jordan from Thursday, June 5, through Tuesday, June 10, in celebration of Eid Al Adha.
The holiday aligns with the Islamic calendar, following the sighting of the crescent moon which confirmed May 28 as the first day of Dhul Hijjah 1446. Accordingly, Eid Al Adha will begin on Friday, June 6, with Arafat Day observed on Thursday, June 5.
Known as the “Feast of Sacrifice,” Eid Al Adha commemorates the end of the Hajj pilgrimage and includes the tradition of sacrificing livestock and distributing meat to those in need.
The holiday applies to most sectors, excluding essential ministries and public institutions that require continued operations.
